THE INDEPENDENT GREYS

Company D, 1st Maryland Infantry Regiment is based out of Baltimore, Maryland. We are a unit within the Independent Greys organization AND our membership spans multiple states. Our annual event schedule includes living history demonstrations for the National Park Service at various battlefields. We are also well established with many other historical locations and event venues. Our impression is based on a real research which can be viewed in the “Library” of this website. Everything we do is supported by research and documentation. Our purpose is to recreate the best and most accurate 1st Maryland Infantry Regiment (1861-62) impression possible. We strive to educate from a soldier’s perspective and teach about Maryland’s role during the American Civil War. Our goal is to make history fun and exciting to learn for both the public and our membership. We are always looking to recruit new members. Check us out and see if we are the right group for you!
